"In this plant, if we didn’t have a union, a lot of times if you get injured, they are going to try to say it’s your fault.  And it’s good to have somebody to go to who’s on your side. 

Having worked at this plant before it was unionized, I see that a lot of the new hires don’t realize how good they’ve got it.  Things are better.  I have more confidence in the workplace.  A lot of the things we had to put up with before we don’t have to tolerate anymore.  Now there is somebody you can go to to point out something is wrong, when before if the supervisor didn’t like the color of your eyes or something and decided they were going to make it hard on you, there wasn’t really anything you could do."
