Get the Gear
Wear a UFCW
sticker on your helmet at work, or get some other UFCW gear for home.
Spread the Word
Visit the Workplace Flyers section
to download fliers to post on your UFCW
bulletin board or in your work break room.
Get Local
Talk to your local union about becoming a steward,
activist, or joining the Safety Committee in your plant. Or, become a SPUR,
a "Special Projects Union Representative" and help other packing, poultry,
or food processing workers in your area get a union. Just talk to your union
rep, or walk into your union office and talk about the possibilities.
Take action
Meatpacking, poultry, or food processing workers
around the country are fighting to unionize, or fighting at the bargaining
table for fair wages. There is always an action to take to help them—even if
you work in Minnesota and they work in North Carolina
Bargain
If negotiations are coming up for your plant, talk to your
local union about being on the bargaining committee.
Get Political
If you’re interested in legislative and
political issues, become a VIP—a Volunteer in Politics. By signing up,
you’ll get alerts when worker voices need to be heard in Washington on
issues like safety and health, ergonomics, line speeds, wages, health care.
You’ll be asked to contact your Member of Congress by phone, mail, or email;
send a letter to the editor of your local paper, or volunteer for campaign
related activities.
Become an Organizer
If you’ re already active in your
union, and you’re good with workers in your industry, get a job with the
UFCW and become an Organizer. Find out more by visiting our organizing
